20CrMnMo case hardening steel

20CrMnMo case hardening steel

20CrMnMo steel is a high strength high grade carburizing steel(case hardening steel), alsp known as 20CrMnMo alloy steel.  Its strength is higher than 15crmnmo, its plasticity and toughness are slightly lower, and its hardenability and mechanical properties are higher than 20CrMnTi steel.(20CrMnMo steel vs 20CrMnTi steel)

After quenching and tempering, it has good comprehensive mechanical properties and low-temperature impact toughness. After carburizing and quenching, it will get high bending strength and wear resistance, but it is easy to produce cracks during grinding. Poor weldability, suitable for resistance welding, it need to be  preheated before welding and tempered after welding. Its machinability and thermal workability are good.

Thousand tons 30CrNiMo8 stocking

Thousand tons 30CrNiMo8 stocking

30CrNiMo8 steel is German DIN standard in Q+T (quenched and tempered steel), equivalent to 30cr2ni2mo in China.

30crnimo8 material has high yield strength, tensile strength and fatigue strength, and sufficient plasticity and toughness.

Generally, EAF and BOF are used for smelting, and secondary refining, electroslag remelting or vacuum treatment, vacuum induction furnace smelting or double vacuum smelting and appropriate heat treatment are adopted for those with high requirements.

The material 30CrNiMo8 is difficult to machine. 30CrNiMo8 to achieve hrb80 below is very difficult, generally do about hrb85 can.

30crnimo8 steel properties

30CrNiMo8 steel belongs to DIN alloy structure tempered steel, which has high yield strength, tensile strength, and enough plasticity and toughness. The critical temperature of Ac3 in 30crnimo8 heat treatment is 800℃, and the quenching temperature is Ac3+(30 ~ 70)℃. After comprehensive consideration, the process was determined as follows: normalizing 880℃, holding heat for 5h; The quenching temperature is 840 ~ 860℃, and the holding time is 4 ~ 4.5h. Water quenching oil is used for quenching and tempering temperature is 570 ~ 620℃. The tempering time should not only ensure that the tissue transformation can be fully carried out through through burning, but also try to eliminate the residual stress.

20MnCr5 case-hardening steel

20MnCr5 case-hardening steel

20MnCr5 steel is case-hardening steel with low carbon content but good hardenability reaching good wear resistance due to high surface hardness after hardening. The performance obtained after heat treatment is better than 20Cr. The quenching deformation is small, the low temperature toughness is good, and the machinability is good; but the welding performance is low. Generally used after carburizing, quenching or quenching and tempering.

16MnCr5 Alloy steel

16MnCr5 Alloy steel

16MnCr5 is an alloyed case hardening steel used for  mechanical engineering components. The steel can be M-treated in order to optimize the machinability.16MnCr5 steel is equivalent to 16CrMnH steel, which has better hardenability and machinability. For larger cross-section parts, higher surface hardness and wear resistance can be obtained after heat treatment, and the low-temperature impact toughness is also higher. 16MnCr5 gear steel is used after carburizing and quenching. It is mainly used to manufacture gears, worms, seal sleeves and other parts. It is a MnCr alloy steel, easily hot machinable and weldable. It has a low hardenability and therefore it can show good core features till thicknesses of about 20 mm.

12CrNi3 alloy steel

12CrNi3 alloy steel

12CrNi3 steel belongs to alloy carburizing steel and has higher hardenability than 12CrNi2A steel.

Therefore, it can be used to manufacture parts with a slightly larger section than 12CrNi2A steel.

Type: military special steel Properties: It is a high-grade carburizing steel with a wide range of uses The steel has good comprehensive mechanical properties after quenching low temperature tempering or high temperature tempering.

The steel has good low temperature toughness, low notch sensitivity and good cutting performance. When the hardness is HB260-320, the relative machinability is 60% ~70 In addition, the steel has low hardness and good plasticity after annealing.

Therefore, the mold can be manufactured by cutting processing method or cold extrusion molding method.

In order to improve the wear resistance of the mold cavity, the mold needs to be carburized after molding, and then quenched and tempered at low temperature, so as to ensure that the mold surface has high hardness and high wear resistance and the core has good toughness. Steel is suitable for manufacturing large and medium-sized plastic molds. However, the steel has a tendency to temper brittleness and the tendency to form white spots.
